Reactivity and Aggression

Big Feelings.

Do walks with your dog feel like you’re navigating a video game? Are you constantly apologizing to passersby or fellow dog walkers, or have you stopped inviting guests because you’re worried about your dog’s behavior? Your dog is likely struggling. Let’s help them understand that ‘yelling’ isn’t the answer.

Yes, change takes time, but it’s achievable. It begins with equipping you with the information, skills, and confidence you need to best support your dog. Sometimes, it requires adjusting expectations and finding compromises, but along the journey we’ll also have unexpected moments of hilarity and joy. I promise.

You’ll be so proud when you see your dog gracefully navigate a something that would previously have sent them into a tailspin. And you’ll learn to celebrate the little wins that can be easy to miss if you you’re always in fight of flight mode.

If you’re ready to book, just fill out the form at the bottom of the page. If you have any questions not answered here, feel free to schedule a 15-minute, no-obligation call.

The approach

When addressing your dog’s reactivity or aggression, the goal isn’t just to stop behaviors like growling, lunging, barking, or biting when they encounter a trigger like a dog or a jogger. We want to change how they feel about those triggers and help them develop better coping mechanisms.

You’ll learn strategies to manage your dog’s reactive or aggressive behaviors while we work on reducing or eliminating them. You’ll also become skilled at recognizing your dog’s early warning signs and responding before things escalate, helping them understand that those big reactions aren’t necessary anymore.

After our initial consult I’ll  create a treatment plan designed to move you toward your training goals while keeping both you and your dog’s well-being, mental health, and safety at the forefront.

Your consistency and commitment to training will speed up progress, though genetics, past experiences, and other uncontrollable factors can affect the pace and extent of improvement. The reality is, we can’t guarantee specific outcomes before we begin.

Along the way, you’ll discover new, cool stuff about your dog—and maybe a little about yourself too. It’ll be awesome.

How will we work on this?

Virtual behavior training allows us work on foundational skills in an stress-free environment for both you and your dog before testing them in real-life situations. Virtual appointments doesn’t mean you should never work with  an in-person trainer. AND  imagine showing up for your first in person session with solid teamwork and foundation skills already in place. Good, right?

Here are a few more reasons to love working online to tackle your dog’s behavior challenges:

After you’ve submitted the contact form, I’ll get back to you, usually within 24-48 hours, with available appointment times. Once we’ve agreed on a time, I’ll send you a Zoom link (let me know if you need help with Zoom), and we’ll meet for our initial assessment. It’s that simple.

Initial consultation: assessment of training needs and goals. $350

Once we have scheduled a time, I will send you some questions about your dog to answer before the initial meeting. The questions will cover your dog’s problem behaviors, personality and preferences, health, previous training history, routines, etc. During the initial consultation we’ll discuss your training goals and the strategies we’ll will use to achieve them. You will receive initial recommendations for management and training, as well as an overall behavior training plan and assessment. If you choose a training program after the consultation, this initial meeting will be included in the program. The consultation lasts 1½ to 2 hours, takes place via Zoom, and can be a one-time appointment.

Stand alone 60 minute follow up appointments can be added for $225.
